The SowBelly Bar™
Steve Lisenby, riding a pig. Most likely not sober.
It all started with a 300 lbs. pig - named connie sow-belly.
When trying to find the perfect name for our barn bar, owner Kammie Lisenby reflected on her childhood to find a magical name with deep meaning. Kammie’s grandfather (Steve Lisenby) worked at Teamsters and had a side hustle of selling pigs in the early 1980’s. When he and his wife first moved to the 22-acre property, they didn’t have much but each other and a single red trailer that the pigs would often cuddle under to keep warm. Her grandfather had such love for his animals and could never bear to be around when the butcher came to collect. One of Kammie’s fondest memories as a child is riding the pigs in the pen. ( She named her favorite pig “ConnieSowBelly” when she was just 5 years old. My favorite of the pigs I named when I was just five years old was “Connie Sowbelly”. ) So, to honor both my grandfather’s love for drinking and animals, the SowBelly Bar was born. Honoring her grandfathers passion for animals and a cold drink, SowBelly Bar was born.
